That's No Moon!

Let me take you on a journey to the past. Actually, we need to go to the half-past. Back to a little set that was called Time Spiral.

Wizards had a rather good idea to base a block of Magic on the concepts of past, present, and future, in that order for the sets. It was basically a fat hanging curveball for the design team, since they could pretty much appeal to the entire fanbase at the same time.

In Time Spiral proper, they took old, mostly overpowered cards and remade them into something different. It seemed like they took every single overpowered format-warping card from back in the day and either gave it suspend or slapped its ability on a creature (thus falling victim to the "creatures are probably worse" method of design).

This was awesome. They could look back at the past and take the broken ideas and make them not-ridiculous-bonkers, and take the crappy ideas and make them playable.

Oh wait, I spoke too soon.

For those of you who don't know, this is based on the original lace cards, which weren't playable even by Alpha standards.

They get what they deserve.

What could possibly make this card playable? Avoiding protections? Not having to sac your permanents to All is Dust? I honestly can't think of a legitimate reason to run this in any deck ever, and that's saying something. There's even a spot for Pale Moon in some sort of Legacy-hosing Isochron Scepter bullshit deck (though that spot is already taken by something better). But there's nowhere this card could fit in anything and be close to useful. Hell, One With Nothing was basically the joke card of the Kamigawa block, and it still saw tournament play.

This card isn't even a joke. It's just pathetic. It serves no purpose, and I'd never ever consider running it. I've made decks with Mind Bend as the cornerstone of the deck, yet I can't find a place for this piece of trash. What does that say about the power level of this card?

Combos with the trash can.

  1. ALSO COMBOS WITH KILLING EMRAKULSTORYBRO.

Wizards has precognition. It's just geared for suck, instead of, say, noticing that maybe Jace and Stoneforge RIGHT NEXT TO A HEAPING MOUND OF ARTIFACTS might not have been wise.
